Cleaning without direct contact with the surfaces we want to clean? YES! UV-C LIGHT GERMICIDAL process! It ‘cleans’ with no direct contact on any surface nor device. Result? It leaves behind no residues and the disinfected surfaces can be used almost immediately.
However, UV-C light disinfection is also known to contribute to health hazards if used incorrectly since UV-C light can penetrate our skin and cornea.
A short term direct exposure to UV-C light can result in temporary skin irritation (redness) and eye damage (cornea and conjunctiva injury or better known as ultraviolet keratitis) but shall heal after a few days. For longer term exposures, it risks developing premature skin aging and even skin cancer; whilst eye damage can be irreversible – cataracts.

Looking at the hazards, please realize that UV-C light intensity from point sources falls off exponentially as it gets past scattering path in air. So, keeping a certain radius is a safe practice when open source UV light is on disinfection mode.
Would I still buy any UV-C disinfection tool if hazard is NOT an issue? YES! UV-C light exposure is greatly reduced through product safety designs implementation (Eg. CleanPhone disinfector with enclosure). Some products incorporated safety switches that allow UV-C sources to be turned off whilst it senses external motion (Eg. CleanToothbrush disinfector with PIR motion sensor). Other designs have built-in timers with options having the ON/ OFF switches for UV-C light sources separated from general lighting.
However, it is important to develop a good habit to always read and understand the User Manual and recommendations for a proper application of any UV-C products before use.
